I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who obtained my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Washington. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked as a nurse at Seattle Children’s hospital for many years and at Harborview Medical Center in the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit in the mental health specialist role.

In my practice, I work with adolescents and adults (age 14-60) including those in underserved communities or those who are part of the unhoused population in the Seattle area that I once was a part of. By doing so I hope to support my community and not only be an example to others as a provider of color, but to reframe the mental health system and battle the stigma that surrounds it.

My certifications include Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Strategies to Facilitate Smoking Cessation.

In my spare time, I enjoy making memories with my four kids. I also enjoy hanging out with my cats, reading, traveling, and trying new restaurants (prior to the pandemic of course).

Together at Refraim Behavioral Health, I hope to help you aim toward a life of health and well-being.

Braylee received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science at Brigham Young University Hawai’i. Furthermore, she received a Master of Public Health with a Biostatistics & Epidemiology concentration at the University of Southern California in December of 2021.

Braylee grew up in Federal Way, Washington, and is continuing that growth in the heart of Portland, Oregon, with her cat, Ichi. Having passions rooted in mathematics and service, her expertise has found the best of both worlds in the public health field. While being a Special Instructor of Math at Brigham Young University Hawai’i has taught her invaluable communication and teaching skills, and the need for improving surveillance and data analytics in health-related organizations, especially mental health.

While making an effort to destigmatize the fear of math, she equally aspires to do so in mental health. Similar to math, the brain is such an informative and powerful tool for the complex problem-solving demands of life. We all can hone this incredible skill with our unique pathways to successfully becoming our authentic selves.

Office Support Cats

Haru

Haru is the first office support cat at RefrAIM. His specialty requires ample time in the lap of those he works with in order to provide the best paw-sitive behavioral support.

Ichi

Ichi is the newest office support cat at RefrAIM. He is particularly enthusiastic about any form of talk therapy. Don’t get too close, as Ichi is still learning the nuances of touch therapy.

Mika

Mika takes her job very seriously as an office support cat. While she does individual therapy for a very select few, she mostly enjoys intensely observing and never hesitates to communicate her insight.

Panda

Now retired, Panda was an irreplaceable office support cat at RefrAIM. Most notably, Panda implemented a behavioral health modality called “flopping”, which has been shown to be significantly efficacious in treating sadness.
